Faustino Soto, Chairman A board member for 4 years, Mr. Soto brings to ICDC his entrepreneurial skills as a consultant with his own firm. His dedication to his local community makes his contributions to ICDC central to our success. Mr. Soto is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelors of Business Administration Degree in Accounting. Mr. Soto has worked for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as well as the U.S. Department of Education. Mr. Soto currently serves as an academic advisor at Northlake College as well. His attention to the Irving community has earned him the position of Planning and Zoning Commissioner. He has also won awards such as the High Spirited Award and Community Advocate Award from the Bilingual Educators of the Metroplex.
George Edwin, Vice Chairman A registered architect, Mr. Edwin’s contributions to ICDC’s projects have been indispensable. An entrepreneur with 46 years of experience, his leadership and expertise preserve the quality of work for which ICDC has become known. Mr. Edwin is a graduate of the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He is a member of American Institute of Architecture, Texas Society of Architecture, and International Conference of Building Officials, as well as Rotary International. His achievements in architecture have brought him recognition with Design Merit Awards from Dallas Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, a Design Award from Texas Planners Association, and Certificates of Distinguished Service from Texas African American Historical Organization and Texas Historical Commission.
William Cole - Secretary Recently elected to the Board for his reliable work, Mr. Cole brings 45 years of experience as a Professional Civil Engineer to Irving Community Development Corporation. His dedication to organizations such as Rotary International for 46 years assures the coming successes of ICDC. Mr. Cole is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. He has served as Project Manager for more than 150 projects in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.
Edwin Schafer, Jr. - Treasurer A board member for the past 6 years, Mr. Schafer has brought a real sense of community to ICDC. Mr. Schafer graduated from Wayland Baptist College as well as Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. Mr. Schafer has served as manager for several different companies including Hazlet Coffee Company and Locke Medical Building. Mr. Schafer worked as Operations Manager for the Murray Management Corporation for over 22 different commercial buildings. He currently owns and runs his own company here in Irving, The Maintenance Company.
Colvin Gibson, Board Member His board service began in 1995. A management consultant, Mr. Gibson brings more than 30 years of business and consulting experience to the organization. He retired early from Exxon Mobil after more than 26 years on the job. He was a Captain in the United States Army and a graduate of Norfolk State University with a Bachelor of the Arts Degree in History. Mr. Gibson continues to contribute to the well-being of his community through experiences with the Irving Black Arts Council, Irving Salvation Army, The Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce, DCET, Debes Creer En Ti, as well as past service with several city and school district committees. He has been recognized with a High Spirited Citizen Award by the City of Irving and a Distinguished Alumnus Award from his alma mater, NSU.
Vernon Proctor, Board Member A civil engineer by training, Mr. Proctor has been with ICDC for more than 10 years. His success as the owner of his own construction firm, Mart, Inc., has brought visible distinction to ICDC affordable homes. Mr. Proctor is a graduate of the University of Texas at Arlington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. Mr. Proctor sat on the Planning and Zoning Board for 7 years and presently sits on the Downtown Irving Preservation Board along with the ICDC Board.
Ruben Carranza, Board Member With a variety of work experiences, Mr. Carranza is a valued addition to ICDC’s Board of Directors. He has worked with the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, Department of Health and Social Services, Department of Housing and Urban Development, and the Social Security Administration. Mr. Carranza has a Bachelor of the Arts degree in Geography and a Masters of Business Administration from Sam Houston State University. He has served on the board of the International Good Neighbor Council, Operation SER, the Dallas Chapter of the American GI Forum, as well as the Irving Heritage Society. Mr. Carranza will be of great service to ICDC with his deep understanding of the public and non-profit sectors’ importance to the health of our community. Cherrie Fisher, Board Member A civil engineer with more than 20 years of experience in the building and construction industry, Mrs. Fisher brings a passion for helping others and her professional expertise to ICDC. She has worked with AT&T Communications, Spawglass Contractors, Anheuser-Busch Companies, and even the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Mrs. Fisher is a graduate of the University of Missouri and is currently working on her MBA from Amberton University. This accomplished Project Management Professional has also worked on improving the community around her by serving on the North Texas Diversity Council as well as City of San Antonio among other activities. |
